In 1927 Eduardo Gregorio, following Néstor's designs, carved this into the wood for the purpose of adorning the main stairway of the Teatro Pérez Galdós. The pieces are in artistic harmony with the paintings and artistic objects to be found decorating the entire building. These works of art, created the same year in which he started teaching at the Luján Pérez School - where he did his training - belong to the first pieces he created, from a period when the artist was inspired by characteristic elements of the Canarian environment and tradition. His grasp of carving directly onto wood - resulting from his in-depth training as a craftsman- is clearly obvious in each of his works of art.
