WALLPAPER

Néstor and Miguel Martín Fernández de la Torre decided to decorate the two small halls, located at both ends of the Saint-Saëns Hall, with wallpaper which imitated fine quality material, a fashion to be seen at the end of the XIX Century. The wallpaper was in a terrible condition due to the humidity and a fruitless attempt at restoration, which had to be removed.

The restoration techniques took more than four months to restore the wallpaper back to its original splendour. This was done by carrying out solubility tests of the blue ink, designing stamped acetate templates to treat the floral motifs and renovating the faded areas with watercolours, as well as the completely destroyed areas.
