The collaboration between the Teatro Pérez Galdós Canary Islands’ Foundation and the diverse institutions and entities that programme music in the Canary Islands is once again demonstrated with the participation in Jazz Otoño 2010. Within the framework of this Jazz Festival, to be performed on the stages of the Paraninfo of the Las Palmas de Gran Canaria University, the Teatro Cuyás, the Alfredo Kraus Auditorium and the Teatro Pérez Galdós, the latter of which is to present the legendary sound of the David Sanborn Trio.

David Sanborn (saxophone), Joey DeFrancesco (organ) and Byron Landham (drums), will definitely make the Gran Canarian public enjoy the concert with the renowned fusion of the freedom and spontaneity of jazz, soul and funk.

“I am a product of my influences and my influences are Jazz and R&B“, states David Sanborn. This definition gives us a clue as to what to expect in the session. He was born in Tampa (Florida) but raised in Saint Louis (Missouri) and from a very young age Sanborn took in all the different genres of good jazz, the blues and rock. His strong will in overcoming obstacles (he began to play the saxophone as means of therapy due to becoming ill with polio when young) and his restless character have helped convert him into one of the most revered artists of his genre which can be seen in the various Grammy awards he has received.
