The restoration and development of the Teatro began in 2004, both of the historical building (public area) as well as of the new extension (area for the artists and administration), including the whole scenario from the stage mouth, premises, annexes and other installations.
The architect Marcos Roger Berghänel from TDA was in charge of carrying out this project together with Carlos Díaz as the coordinating architect and Agustín Juárez as the local architect.
Whilst carrying out the architectural repair and restoration works, utmost care was taken to respect the historical art work and the heritage, by consulting official and private historical archives as well as any document with relevant information regarding the original designs.
The reopening of the Teatro Pérez Galdós was celebrated on April 14th 2007 with Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony conducted by the maestro Pedro Halffter.
