After the efforts of last season with ballet in the Teatro Pérez Galdós, dance once again becomes protagonist and this time by means of one of the most unique choreographers. We are talking of no other than the French-born Albanian Angelin Preljocaj, who presents us his particular choreographic version inspired by Blancanieves (Snow White), the famous Brothers Grimm fairytale.

A mixture of universal symbols and contemporary dance, this baroque and wonderful show tells a beautiful love store that will have the whole family dreaming. The work is set to the music of Gustav Mahler, set design by Thierry Leproust and costumes created by Jean-Paul Gaultier.

Preljocaj himself explains his version of the ballet: "I have followed the version by the Grimm Brothers, with just a few personal variations based on my own analysis of the symbols in the tale. Bettlheim describes Snow White as an Oedipus in reverse. The wicked stepmother is without a doubt the central character in the tale. She is the one who I examine through her narcissistic determination not to give up on seduction and her role as a woman, even if it means sacrificing her stepdaughter.”

For this ballet, Preljocaj relies on the 26 dancers who currently make up his Ballet Company, created in 1985. Preljocaj has managed to create a great contemporary ballet without losing any of the romantic character.
